Who qualifies for an absentee ballot?

For this election, eligible voters can vote by absentee ballot if they meet the criteria of the three newly expanded reasons for voting absentee, as provided in the legislation passed by the General Assembly this year: 1) sickness; 2) physical disability; 3) absence from town on Election Day. Public Act 22-2 eases the restrictions previously written into state law. It removes a requirement that commuters be out of town for all hours in which polls are open. It deletes language requiring a voter to be personally ill in order to qualify for a ballot based on sickness or disability.
